Dr. P L Patel, Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, SVNIT Surat, India, is currently teaching the subjects related to Hydrology, Open channel hydraulics and River Morphodynamics at undergraduate and post graduate levels. He has guided Seven Doctoral students in the area of water resources and river Morphodynamics, and ten students are pursuing their PhD programmes under him on similar themes. He has also guided 32 PG Dissertations and 26 B. Tech projects. He is presently coordinating the activities of Centre of Excellence (CoE) on “Water Resources and Flood Management” funded from World bank through TEQIP-II project of MHRD, Govt. of India (GOI). He had already executed the research projects of National importance including Nationally Coordinated project on “Water Resources and Flood Management” funded from AICTE, New Delhi and “Erosion of Non-uniform unimodal and bimodal sediments” funded from Department of Science and Technology (DST), GOI. Recently a research project entitled “Climate change impacts on water resources of Tapi basin” has been approved for funding from Ministry of Water Resources, River Development, & Ganga Rejuvenation, Govt. of India.
He has already published research articles in high impact factor journals and conference proceedings, the details of publications are as under:

He is also active member of Climate Change Working Group Committee of IAHR.
Apart from aforesaid academic credentials, he served as Head of the Department of Civil Engineering, SVNIT Surat (July 2013- July 2015), Dean (Research & Consultancy) (March 2009 – October 2011), and presently holding the position of Dean (Academic), SVNIT Surat, India. The Applicant has visited several countries like USA, Japan, Netherlands, Italy and China for delivering invited lectures and presenting papers in conferences and workshops.
