Dr. Thinesh Selvaratnam is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Lamar University, Texas, USA. He is also an Adjunct Professor, School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment, Arizona State University (ASU), Tempe, AZ, USA. His research activities and interests span the broad fields of environmental chemistry, sustainable treatment processes, biotechnology, resource recovery/recycling, and resilience research. His current research focuses on evaluating the potential of biological systems (algal systems with acidophilic strains) to treat various streams of industrial wastewater. His work has resulted in more than 25 refereed papers and over 35 national and international conference presentations. In addition to fundamental research, he is actively working on resilience research. His resilience work primarily focuses on developing tools and methods to evaluate the effectiveness of resilience research.
