A compound flood risk model is developed for Milwaukee, WI and Berrien County, MI, that considers coastal, fluvial, and pluvial hazards. The Delft3D-FM/SWAN hydrodynamic and wave model is validated against historical flood events on each side of Lake Michigan, and then used with downscaled GCM meteorological forcing to evaluate flood hazard in present and future climates. The overall goal of the project is to give local stakeholders a tool to quantify the effectiveness of proposed flood risk reduction measures for their residents.
