Andy Goodwin is a Research Engineer with the Environmental Laboratory, U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) stationed in Portland, Oregon since 2004. Andy’s expertise is informing the sustainable design and management of rivers, estuaries, and landscapes with ecology, natural and nature based solutions. Andy's work the past 25 years has helped establish the field of cognitive movement ecology as part of civil engineering infrastructure design processes. Andy's research includes antelope and birds in addition to fish. Beyond animal movement and ecological modeling, Andy's expertise includes stormwater management, wetland ecology, geotechnical, environmental and water resources engineering.
Andy has a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech and an M.S. and Ph.D. from Cornell University in Environmental Systems Engineering.
