Senior Manager, Sustainable Technologies Evaluation Program

Mr. Steve Auger is a water resources engineer and qualifited techer in Ontario, Canada. He has recently transitioned within the Sustainable Technologies Evaluation Program (STEP) partnership, from the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority to the Toronto Region Conservation Authority, to serve the Senior Manager role for STEP.
Steve's efforts working with an integrated team of Water and Energy leaders and specialists has been focused on developing and implementing new legislation, regulation policies, and best practices relating to low impact development (LID) stormwater management in support of better site design, implementation, inspection and maintenance prioritization. One example of these efforts was the development of the LID Treatment Train Tool for Ontario. Steve has also provided technical guidance, quality assurance, and control for LID municipal demonstration projects, through the design, permitting and tendering processes. He has also been a key component of an integrate team of environmental specialists that have developed inspection and maintenance prioritization tools for conventional SWM and LID features.
Steve has also worked as a consultant for both Golder Associates Ltd. (2010-2014), and Stantec Consulting Ltd. (2003-2010). In these practice years, he provided technical expertise and project leadership for the Golder Surface Water Group in Ontario. He has also delivered field investigations and associated water quantity and quality modelling studies in the urban land, environmental management, infrastructure, irrigation, aggregate and mining sectors. This work also included a variety of project management and modelling technical oversight for industrial sewage discharges and associated assimilative capacity studies.
Steve is dedicated and honoured to be in this stage of his career, serving the role of Senior Manager for STEP with a great team of Water and Energy leaders and specialists. STEP’s objectives continue to foster broader implementation of green technologies that protect water resources and reduce our carbon footprint.
