Julianne Chan is a junior studying Environmental Engineering at Rutgers University-New Brunswick, researching microplastics in storm and wastewater under Dr. Nicole Fahrenfeld, Associate Professor in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at Rutgers University-New Brunswick, and Dr. Georgia Arbuckle-Keil, Professor in the Chemistry Department at Rutgers University-Camden. She is a 2023 National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Hollings Scholar, a 2024 Goldwater Scholar, and a 2024 Udall Scholar. Her research focuses on microplastic concentrations and removal rates in different stages in wastewater treatment plants in collaboration with New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.
