Dr. Simonton has a BS in Civil Engineering from the West Virginia Institute of Technology, an MS in Environmental Engineering from Marshall University, and a PhD in Engineering from the University of New Mexico. He joined the faculty at Marshall University in 2001. He has been a practicing environmental professional engineer in regulatory agencies, the private sector and academia since 1991 and is a registered PE in WV, KY, VA and MS. he has extensive experience in the fields of environmental science and engineering, as well as expertise in environmental law, policy and regulation. His research interests are focused on forensic analysis of environmental impacts, human health risk, and environmental impacts related to mining.
