Associate Program Officer

Dr. Charles Burgis is an Associate Program Officer with the National Academies' Water Science and Technology Board. His research background is in watershed management, green infrastructure design and performance, and non-point source contaminant fate and transport. He previously worked as an Environmental Engineer for a groundwater consulting firm and as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Maryland, where he researched agricultural nutrient transport within the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. He holds MS and PhD degrees in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Virginia, and a BS in Environmental Chemistry from Bates College.
