In response to the expanding work in this specialized field of practice, the Education Committee of the Bioengineering Section of American Fisheries Society, in collaboration with the Fisheries Engineering Committee [DR1] at EWRI, have expeditiously brought forth two design aids in mid 2023 to a web server. These two new free products are available to managers, biologists, and engineers working on fish passage and river restoration. The first product is a series of checklists for various types of common projects (e.g. fish ladders, fish screens, dam removals, road crossings) that will help a project proponent move in a deliberate and methodical manner through the steps of pre-design, design, construction, and post-construction to reduce missteps and backtracking[DR2] . The presentation will include a tour through example checklists on the web server. The second product on the web server is a Training Portal designed to to serve as a “first-stop” shop to find trainings in these areas of practice. The purpose of this Training Portal is to house a user-friendly compilation of links to available trainings for those new to these fields and experienced professionals. This includes text-based design guidelines, design aids, slideshows, recorded and live videos, webinars, and in person trainings and conferences. If you conduct or know of a training you would like to add, there is a link for submitting your contribution. The presentation will include exploration of training listings as well as stepping through how to submit a training for the list.
